Learning a second language is a 21st-century skill needed for success in our global community. The Kyrene School District Dual Language Program is designed for high academic achievement in all content areas. Students attain high levels of proficiency in both English and Spanish while learning grade-level academic content.

Bienvenidos Preschool

Ages 3-5, not yet ready for Kindergarten

This Spanish language exploration program for early learners is tuition-based and offered through Kyrene Community Education at Lagos and Norte. Bienvenidos offers students a headstart in dual language to prepare them for one of Kyrene's dual language academies.

Dual Language Academies

For students in Kindergarten - 5th grade

Students are immersed in Kyrene’s rigorous, state-aligned curriculum in a 50/50 model. Kyrene's curriculum helps every child learn and grow through engaging, hands-on instruction. Certified teachers, supportive programs, and strong family partnerships create a sense of belonging where students thrive academically and socially.

Middle School

For students in 6th - 8th grades

At Kyrene Middle School and Kyrene Akimel A-al Middle School, students continue their dual language education in a 30/70 model with two courses: Spanish Language Arts and Social Studies taught in Spanish. Our Middle School Program continues to provide Dual Language students with the opportunity to continue their path towards proficiency in Spanish.
